HARRISBURG— Steam Into History, Inc. DBA Northern Central Railway of York has been awarded a grant of $43,506 from the PA Arts and Culture Recovery (PACR) grant program, as announced by Representative Kate Klunk (R-Hanover) on Tuesday.

According to Klunk, the PACR grants are aimed at investing in community and cultural resources to preserve them for future generations. She highlighted the significance of Northern Central Railway as an educational resource for individuals, families, and history enthusiasts interested in Southern York County's rich railroad history and its influence during the Civil War.

Klunk expressed her satisfaction with the grant, stating, "This award will help preserve a unique part of our local history for generations to come."

Ashley Zimmerman, the executive director of Northern Central Railway, expressed gratitude for the additional funding provided by the grant. She explained that the funds from PACR will be used to cover the cost of new programs and marketing in collaboration with the History Museum in New Freedom Borough. Zimmerman emphasized the importance of such support in allowing them to expand and revamp programs for the community and its visitors.

Northern Central Railway had requested assistance from the COVID-19 ARPA PA Arts and Culture Recovery program, which aims to provide aid to organizations affected by the pandemic.

This grant will undoubtedly contribute to the preservation and enhancement of Northern Central Railway's historical significance, allowing it to continue serving as an educational and cultural resource for the community.
