Of the 624 people living in New Salem in 2019, 46.3 percent (289) were women and 53.7 percent (335) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by the York County News.

Males 18 and over outnumbered females in the same age group by a ratio of 222-to-210. In the 65 and over age range, there were 27 females and 60 males.
