Of the 739 people living in New Salem in 2019, 52.5 percent (388) were women and 47.5 percent (351) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by the York County News.

Males 18 and over outnumbered females in the same age group by a ratio of 237-to-206. In the 65 and over age range, there were 77 females and 75 males.
