Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) voted in favor of H.R. 4405, known as the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which was passed by the House of Representatives with broad support. The bill requires the Department of Justice to release its files related to Jeffrey Epstein.

“Transparency is essential for a trustworthy and accountable government. Chairman Comer and the House Oversight Committee have been committed to delivering transparency since day one—having released over 65,000 pages of documents to date related to the Jeffrey Epstein case,” said Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11).

“My vote today is in the name of justice for the victims, transparency for the American people, and accountability for those involved in these heinous crimes against innocent women,” continued Smucker. “Democrats had access to the same documents under the Biden administration but did not release them. This was never about politics for me or my fellow Republicans.

“I hope as a nation we can move forward. The people of PA-11 are focused on their families, work, and the challenges facing our nation today—not the life of a disgraced predator who represents the worst of human behavior.

“I encourage the media to stop obsessing over every detail of Epstein’s past and focus its attention where it belongs: on the issues that matter to families, on strengthening our communities, and on highlighting individuals who lead with integrity.”

The legislation will now be considered by the Senate.

The House Committee on Oversight is continuing its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes and has made public about 65,000 pages of documents so far. These records include materials from several sources such as the Department of Justice and transcripts from former officials like Bill Barr and Alexander Acosta.

Rep. Lloyd Smucker has represented Pennsylvania’s 11th district in Congress since 2017 after previously serving in Pennsylvania’s Senate from 2009 to 2016. He was born in Lancaster County in 1964 and continues to reside there.

According to information released by Smucker’s office, Democrats on the committee published only three out of roughly 23,000 pages on November 12, 2025, with redactions that changed email contexts for political reasons.
