State Rep. Kate Klunk (R-Hanover) has announced that $750,000 in state grants have been approved for infrastructure improvements in the 169th District. The funding comes from the Local Share Account (LSA) program, which is financed by gaming revenue and managed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.

The grants will support two projects: $516,647 will go to the Glen Rock Water Authority to replace 1,100 feet of old waterline piping along Baltimore Street, and $233,353 will be used by Manheim Township to replace the Intersection Road Bridge over Gun Powder Falls.

“These grants reflect an investment in the future of our communities,” Klunk said. “Whether it’s enhancing water infrastructure or improving roadway safety, each project will contribute to a safer, healthier, and more connected 169th District. I appreciated the opportunity to advocate for this funding and the positive change it brings.”

Dale E. Getz, director of administration for Glen Rock Water/Sewer Authority, explained that replacing the water main on Pa. Route 616 (Baltimore Street) aligns with a planned PennDOT project to replace a retaining wall in need of urgent attention. “PennDOT has announced an existing retaining wall in dire need of replacement will be moving forward. Glen Rock Water Authority has water main that would conflict with PennDOT’s project and since it is some of the original water main, it would be in our best interest to coordinate the projects or be proactive with the project,” Getz said.

Rose A. Kirkpatrick, vice president of Manheim Township Board of Supervisors, noted that replacing the bridge addresses a significant local concern. “The safety and well-being of our residents, as well as those who travel through Manheim Township, remain a paramount priority. This grant enables the township to address an essential infrastructure need and continue its commitment to maintaining safe and reliable transportation systems for the community,” she said. “We are deeply grateful for the support and investment in the future of Manheim Township.”

The LSA program is administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), an independent agency responsible for overseeing programs aimed at economic growth across Pennsylvania.
