Roxanna Gapstur, President and CEO of WellSpan Health, has been named to Modern Healthcare’s “100 Most Influential People in Healthcare” list for the third consecutive year. The annual list recognizes leaders who have made significant contributions to the health care sector.

Under Dr. Gapstur’s leadership, WellSpan Health has focused on innovation and human-centered design to improve patient care and operational efficiency. The organization has implemented emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, co-developed new clinical capabilities with technology partners, and partnered with General Catalyst’s Health Assurance Transformation Co to enhance imaging services, introduce an AI care assistant called Ana, and use robotics and virtual nursing to reduce administrative tasks for staff.

Dr. Gapstur’s approach has helped WellSpan achieve high standards in quality, safety, and patient experience. The health system reports strong financial results, maintains AA bond ratings from Fitch and Moody’s, and is approaching a third year of strong performance with 3,000 providers in its accountable care network. The National Association of ACOs recently recognized WellSpan with its 2025 Excellence Award.

Joe Crosswhite, Chair of the WellSpan Board of Directors, stated: “Roxanna’s leadership reminds us that the future isn’t something we wait for — it’s something we create. At WellSpan, we are proud to stand at the forefront of this movement, reimagining what health and well-being can mean for every person and every community.” He added: “Her vision reflects a commitment to transforming health care into something more equitable, innovative and human-centered.”

WellSpan Health operates nine hospitals and over 250 care locations as a nonprofit organization. In the past year alone, it provided $364.7 million in community benefit while generating nearly $9 billion in economic impact according to its 2025 Community Impact Report.
