Rep. Lloyd Smucker, who represents Pennsylvania’s 11th district in the U.S. Congress, shared several statements on social media in early January 2026 addressing international affairs, local governance, and the loss of a colleague.

On January 3, Smucker commented on developments involving Venezuela’s leader, writing: “Nicolás Maduro is a narcoterrorist who has led an oppressive dictatorship and has been indicted for crimes committed against Americans. He will now stand trial. President Trump’s decisive action protects American lives. I am deeply grateful for the brave men and women who serve”.

In another post on January 5, Smucker reflected on Pennsylvania’s tradition of local government and his own experience in public service: “With over 2,500 municipalities and 67 counties—Pennsylvania has a rich history of local government. Having previously served as a township supervisor, I know the critical role local elected officials play in making PA-11 such an outstanding place to live. As county officials,”.

On January 6, he expressed condolences following the death of a congressional colleague: “I am deeply saddened by the passing of my colleague, Doug. He was a dedicated public servant and, most importantly, a loving husband and father. Please join me in praying for his wife, his children, his family, and his staff during this difficult time.”

Lloyd Smucker has served as U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania’s 11th District since 2017 after replacing Joe Pitts. Before joining Congress, he served in the Pennsylvania Senate from 2009 to 2016 and worked as a township supervisor earlier in his career. Born in Lancaster County in 1964, Smucker continues to reside there while serving his constituents.
