Rep. Lloyd Smucker, a U.S. Congressman representing Pennsylvania’s 11th district since 2017, recently used his social media platform to criticize the Affordable Care Act and highlight new legislative efforts by House Republicans to address health care costs.
On December 17, 2025, Smucker posted on X: “The “Affordable” Care Act is anything but affordable for working families:
Surging premiums costing an average family over $27,000 a year
Single coverage premiums rose to $9,325 per year for lower-quality care
Insurance companies profit while families pay more”.
Later that day, he shared another post with a link: “https://t.co/vVVdUF8IR4”.
In a subsequent tweet on December 17, 2025, Smucker announced recent congressional action: “Today, House Republicans took action and passed the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act to reduce health care premiums for all Americans, not just those on the Obamacare marketplace, and give them more options when choosing their health care.
Republicans are working”.
Lloyd Smucker has served in Congress since replacing Joe Pitts in 2017. Before his tenure in the U.S. House of Representatives, he served in the Pennsylvania Senate from 2009 to 2016. Born in Lancaster County in 1964, Smucker currently resides in Lancaster.
