Rep. Lloyd Smucker, who represents Pennsylvania’s 11th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed a range of topics on social media this week, including energy policy, health care affordability, and support for the Jewish community.
On December 12, Smucker criticized Democratic regulatory policies and highlighted recent legislative action by House Republicans: “For years, we’ve seen Democrats weaponize regulations to advance their anti-energy agenda. This week, House Republicans passed the PERMIT Act to remove red tape and repair this broken process so our economy can grow, innovation can thrive, and America can win.”
Two days later, on December 14, Smucker promoted Republican-backed tax initiatives and health care reforms: “The Working Families Tax Cuts is making life more affordable for Americans—including when it comes to health care. Direct Primary Care lowers health care costs and gives patients more power over their health care choices. Republicans are delivering real, affordable solutions”
On December 15, marking Hanukkah’s first night, Smucker expressed solidarity with Jewish communities locally and globally: “On this first night of Hanukkah, we stand with the Jewish community in Pennsylvania and across the world. In this season of prayer, we are reminded that light will overcome darkness and faith will triumph over hate.”
Smucker has served in Congress since 2017 after replacing Joe Pitts. Before his tenure in Washington D.C., he was a member of the Pennsylvania Senate from 2009 to 2016. Born in Lancaster County in 1964 and currently residing there at age 59, Smucker continues to represent his local constituency at the federal level.
