HARRISBURG - Rep. Tom Jones (R-Elizabethtown) has announced that Greater Elizabethtown Area Recreation and Community Services (GEARS) has been awarded a $250,000 grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). The funding will be used to support a renovation project for the second floor of GEARS' center in Elizabethtown.
"GEARS is a cherished part of our community, and this funding will help it expand to reach even more residents," said Jones. "I look forward to the coming renovations and the exciting things to come."
The grant comes from the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program, which aims to fund projects that involve the development, rehabilitation, and improvement of public parks, recreation areas, greenways, trails, and river conservation.
GEARS offers a variety of resources and programs, including a community center, child care program, recreation facilities, and a senior center. The funding will enable GEARS to enhance its current offerings and provide even more opportunities for the community.
