FOIA Request to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments from January to September 2024.
On September 26, 2024, we at DeKalb Times sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Dekalb County in Illinois. Our request focused on obtaining a comprehensive list of all payments made to vendors within the county from January 1, 2024, until September 26, 2024.
The requested records are expected to contain detailed information including the vendor's name, the date of each transaction, a description of the transaction, and the amount paid.
As a media organization committed to providing accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to these public records is essential for us at DeKalb Times. This information will enable us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
We believe that as members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
