A grant of $908,877 has been allocated to the Southern York County School District for a roof replacement project at its middle school located in Shrewsbury Township. This announcement was made by Representative Kate Klunk, who represents the Hanover area.

Klunk emphasized the significance of this funding for the community, stating, "Our school districts do their best to maintain their facilities, but cost is often prohibitive to completing necessary projects. I was proud to help bring these dollars to the 169th District to improve the longevity of a local school, conserve taxpayer dollars, and make learning safer and more comfortable for all who use the building."

The grant comes from the state's Public School Facility Improvement Grant (PSFIG) program. It will be used specifically for replacing 40,000 square feet of roof that is over 24 years old. The PSFIG funds will also assist with covering engineering and renovation costs.

The overall cost of the project is estimated at just over $1.2 million. The Southern York County School District will contribute more than $300,000 in matching funds to complete the project.

For further inquiries regarding this grant funding, interested parties can contact Representative Klunk’s office at 717-630-8942.
