The Elizabethtown Area Water Authority is set to receive a low-interest loan aimed at improving local water infrastructure, as announced by Representative Tom Jones of the Lancaster/Lebanon district. The $20 million loan, provided by the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST), will fund a project to replace outdated water mains with new ductile iron pipes.

"This loan will assist the water authority with completing a worthwhile initiative that will benefit many residents with more reliable water service," said Jones. He expressed gratitude towards the PENNVEST board for acknowledging the significance of this project.

The project involves replacing existing cast iron piping, typically 4-8 inches in diameter, with new ductile iron pipes ranging from 8-12 inches in diameter. This upgrade aims to enhance water service reliability for residents.

PENNVEST was established in 1988 to offer financial support for community sewer, stormwater, and drinking water projects across Pennsylvania.
