A bridge in Windsor Township, York County, will soon bear the name of a local World War I veteran. State Representative Wendy Fink (R-Red Lion) has announced that the Kreutz Creek Bridge will be dedicated to Private Myles Albert Ness.
The dedication ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, November 15 at 9 a.m. Following the event, light refreshments will be available at Representative Fink’s office.
“By drawing attention to the lives and legacies of local veterans, we can preserve their memory, as well as inspire patriotism and gratitude in future generations,” said Fink. “I appreciate this opportunity to pay tribute to a York Countian whose service shaped our history and has had a lasting impact on the community. I hope many constituents will join us to celebrate Ness’ life and service.”
Private Ness joined the U.S. Army in 1917 and served with the 6th Infantry Regiment, which was part of the 5th Infantry Division during World War I. The division participated in several campaigns, including the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. Ness was wounded by mustard gas but survived his injuries. He passed away on May 15, 1958, and is buried at Zion United Methodist Church in Windsor Township.
Residents interested in attending are required to RSVP by calling Representative Fink’s office at 717-244-9232.
