Several organizations in York County have received grants from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) to aid historical preservation efforts, according to an announcement by Rep. Wendy Fink (R-Red Lion).
“These grants are a testament to the vibrant history of District 94 and York County. I appreciate the efforts of local organizations, which are working to preserve that history for future generations,” said Fink. “The grants awarded by PHMC will help keep our community’s stories alive and accessible.”
The grants include $4,995 for the York County Commissioners Archives to digitize 70 prothonotary appearance and Court of Common Pleas dockets, and $5,000 for the York County History Center for a digital preservation assessment conducted by the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts.
Under the Cultural and Historical Support Grant Program, the York County History Center was also awarded $40,000 for salary support for its manager of school programs. The Susquehanna Heritage Corp. received $6,200 to cover staff wages as it works toward accreditation with the American Alliance of Museums.
The PHMC’s grant programs aim to strengthen historical and cultural organizations across Pennsylvania while ensuring long-term care of archival materials and historic resources.
