Grant funding has been awarded to several first responder companies in the 169th District under the PA Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program. The grants were administered by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner and will benefit ten fire companies and ambulance squads in the district.

"These grants are a small way we can show our support for our first responders," said Rep. Kate Klunk, the representative for the 169th District. "Many of our companies are volunteer-run, making these grants critically important to ensuring functioning equipment and safety upgrades. We appreciate our first responders who work hard every day to ensure the safety of our communities."

The grants can be used for construction or renovation, equipment purchases or repairs, and existing debt reduction. The funding amounts awarded within the 169th District are as follows:

- Glen Rock EMS: $15,000

- Glen Rock Hose and Ladder: $15,006

- Hanover Area Fire and Rescue Commission: $15,000

- Hanover Borough Fire Department: $16,368

- Jefferson Volunteer Fire Co.: $13,450

- Penn Township Department of Fire Rescue Services: $16,173

- Pleasant Hill Volunteer EMS: $15,000

- Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Co.: $16,951

- Rose Fire Co. EMS: $15,000

- Rose Fire Co. No. 1: $15,201

It is important to note that the funding for these grants comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner. The funds are derived from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, not General Fund tax revenue. The actual funding amounts are contingent on the recipients filing their grant agreements with the Office of State Fire Commissioner.

These grants will help ensure that the first responders in the 169th District have the necessary resources to continue their life-saving work. The funding will contribute to construction or renovation projects, equipment purchases or repairs, and debt reduction for these vital organizations.

Rep. Klunk's dedication to supporting first responders and the safety of the community is evident through her efforts in securing these grants. Her commitment to recognizing the importance of volunteer-run companies and the need for functioning equipment and safety upgrades is commendable.

The recipients of these grants, including Glen Rock EMS, Hanover Borough Fire Department, and Rose Fire Co. No. 1, among others, will be able to utilize the funds to enhance their capabilities and provide better services to the residents they serve.

It is crucial to acknowledge and appreciate the hard work and dedication of our first responders, who tirelessly work to ensure the safety of our communities. These grants serve as a small but significant gesture of support for their invaluable service.
