Seeking Business Volunteers for our Middle School Career Awareness Fair - November 11th

Crossroads Middle School recently issued the following announcement.

Seeking Business Volunteers for our Middle School Career Awareness Fair - November 11th

On Thursday, November 11, 2021, the West Shore School District will hold its annual Middle School Career Awareness Fair for eighth grade students. The event is open to students at all three middle schools and our virtual learning academy, and will be hosted by Crossroads Middle School.

As students start to think about high school and their future after graduation, it is important for them to be exposed to different career possibilities. The fair provides students the opportunity to learn about a variety of careers and speak to individuals working in them.

We are currently looking for volunteers to speak at the Career Fair.

The format for the event is very casual, with students moving through and gathering information on careers that interest them.  The District will provide wifi access, a table, and chairs.  Please feel free to bring props, handouts, etc. associated with your career.

Overview of the Day

  • 8-8:30 a.m. - Business Volunteers arrive for registration, set-up, and breakfast
  • 8:30 - 11:15 a.m. - Crossroads, Allen, New Cumberland, and ExCEL Virtual Learning Academy middle school students will move through the fair in 45-minute blocks of time with brief breaks in between
  • 11:15 a.m. - Lunch provided by Dr. Todd Stoltz, Superintendent of Schools
Mitigation Efforts

  • Per the current DOH mask Order, face coverings (masks/shields) are required to be worn in school facilities.
  • Hand sanitizing stations will be in place for students and guests to use.
  • Tables will be spaced to encourage social distancing.
  • Participants are expected to monitor themselves for symptoms of COVID prior to attending the Career Fair.  If you are feeling ill or experiencing symptoms, we respectfully ask you to notify Mrs. Ehrig at 717-932-1295 and do not attend.
For those who have participated in the past, we hope you will be able to join us again this year. For those who may be new to the event, please feel free to contact any of our middle school counselors for additional details.
