Dillsburg Elementary School recently issued the following announcement.
Special Board Meeting October 13, 7:00 (Livestream Only)
The Northern Board of School Directors will be holding a Special Board Meeting on Wednesday, October 13, at 7:00 p.m. to further discuss issues related to the District’s Health and Safety Plan.
Public viewing of, and participation in, the meeting will be available via livestream ONLY. All public comments will be shared with the board either live through Zoom or by written electronic submission.
The reason for this virtual format is that many individuals present at the last meeting of the board did not wear masks per the Order of the Secretary of Health. Unfortunately, forcing compliance with the Order as a condition of attendance at public meetings has been unsuccessful in the experience of many Pennsylvania districts and has, in some cases, resulted in the need to forcibly involve law enforcement. We do not believe that continuing to allow non-compliance, which can also be a barrier to other constituents’ attendance, or forcibly involving law enforcement are reasonable approaches if either can be avoided.
