HARRISBURG— The wastewater treatment plant serving New Freedom, Railroad, and Shrewsbury boroughs, as well as portions of Shrewsbury and Hopewell townships, has been granted $1.14 million by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). This grant will be used to make necessary improvements to the treatment plant located in Railroad Borough.
Representative Kate Klunk (R-Hanover) expressed her appreciation for the CFA's investment in this project. She emphasized the importance of the grant for the residents who rely on the wastewater treatment services provided by this plant. Klunk believes that the completion of this project will ensure safe and reliable sewer services for both current and future residents of the municipalities.
Andrew Shaffer, the New Freedom Borough Manager, also commented on the significance of the allocated funds. He stated that the enhancements made possible by the grant will reinforce the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of the infrastructure. Shaffer believes that these improvements will enable the community to be better served while also safeguarding the area's precious water resources.
John Smith, the director of wastewater operations, highlighted how the proposed upgrade of the New Freedom Wastewater Treatment Facility will meet the needs of the rapidly growing area in south-central Pennsylvania. He emphasized that these improvements will contribute to the health of the Codorus Creek and the Chesapeake Bay for years to come.
The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) is an independent agency responsible for funding programs and investments aimed at Pennsylvania's economic growth.
With this grant, the New Freedom Borough can now proceed with the necessary improvements to their wastewater treatment plant. The funds will support the efficiency and reliability of the infrastructure, ensuring that the growing community will have access to safe and reliable sewer services.
