Senator Kristin Phillips-Hill has been recognized as a 2024 Guardian of Small Business by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). She is one of only five state senators to receive this award, attributed to her perfect voting record in favor of policies supporting small business growth and community development.
The recognition comes just before Small Business Saturday, an event focused on promoting local businesses that play a vital role in the economy. Phillips-Hill’s legislative efforts reflect the essence of this national occasion, which emphasizes community support for local enterprises.
"Small businesses are the heartbeat of our communities," said Phillips-Hill. She highlighted how these businesses contribute to local activities and charities, emphasizing their integral role in the community fabric. "The majority of money you spend in a small business stays right here in the community," she added.
Throughout her tenure, Phillips-Hill has advocated for reducing bureaucratic hurdles, lowering taxes, and creating more opportunities for entrepreneurs. Her commitment has not gone unnoticed by NFIB Assistant State Director Melissa Morgan, who remarked on Phillips-Hill's consistent support for small business reforms and opposition to burdensome regulations.
As Small Business Saturday approaches, families are encouraged to visit local establishments. This participation not only supports individual businesses but also strengthens the entire community.
