Lloyd Smucker, a congressman representing Pennsylvania's 11th district, has taken to social media to voice his concerns about various fiscal policies and legislative procedures. Smucker's recent posts reflect his viewpoints and shed light on significant discussions within the U.S. Congress.
On April 3, 2025, Smucker tweeted a statement regarding budgetary matters. He referenced President Trump's acknowledgment of the necessity to balance the budget, saying "President Trump said it himself- we need to balance the budget. Sec Bessent wants to lower the deficit to 3% of GDP ASAP. This bill makes it harder to do both."
In a separate tweet on the same day, Smucker addressed fiscal policy priorities, emphasizing the need for tax considerations and deficit reduction. He stated, "We all agree: keep taxes low for individuals & small businesses, drive economic growth. But we must reduce the deficit as well."
The following day, on April 4, 2025, Smucker questioned the legislative process in the Senate, bringing up the idea of altering longstanding procedures. He posted, "If the Senate doesn’t care about existing guardrails, then why not just eliminate the filibuster? No sense in tying themselves into knots over budget reconciliation if it doesn’t mean anything anyway."
