DOVER AREA HIGH SCHOOL: Returning Students to Buildings

Antonio

Dover Area High School issued the following announcement.

Good Afternoon,

With the first two weeks of school now complete, the District feels very positive about the opening of the school year, especially in light of two building projects and the COVID-19 Pandemic.

While approximately 30% of our families chose either the full Online Blended Instruction or A/B Blended Instruction options, a number of these families have chosen to return their students back to their buildings. I think we would all agree that most students do better in classrooms with teachers, however the fluidity of the current process is creating much uncertainty with transportation and class size, which in turn presents challenges for social distancing in some schools.

Therefore, all requests for students to physically return to a building either A/B or full time must be made to the building principal no later than this Friday, September 25th. The District will need the week of September 28th to finalize student schedules and transportation for student return no later than Monday, October 5th.

This does not pertain to families who have already contacted their building principal and are in the process of returning, or students doing limited Online Blended Instruction due to illness or quarantining.

Those who choose to stay with their blended option will have the opportunity to have their student return to their building for the second semester, which begins January 28th, if they wish. Any family wishing to make this change at that time must contact their student’s building principal no later than January 18th, 2021.

As always, thank you for your patience and flexibility as we navigate our situation this year. We continue to do our very best to make decisions that put the best interest of our students first.
