Rep. Wendy Fink from Red Lion has put forward a series of bills aimed at reforming the election process in Pennsylvania. Her proposals are designed to address vulnerabilities and improve access to voting. Fink, a Republican, is focused on ensuring that elections are conducted with integrity, transparency, and fairness.
The proposed bills include measures to make Election Day a state holiday, closing schools and government offices to facilitate in-person voting at polling places. Another bill aims to increase accuracy and accountability by instituting random hand counts of ballots in selected precincts. Additionally, the bills propose stronger oversight of mail-in and absentee ballots, suggesting these ballots be returned to precincts to be kept on Election Day. This would provide an alternative for voters who face difficulties voting on account of previous absentee ballot records.
"My election reform bills would not only bolster transparency and preserve the integrity of the elections process across the state, but they would also lessen the burden on our counties on Election Day,” said Fink. She emphasized the importance of public education and advocacy for reforms to ensure that Pennsylvanians have confidence in the election process.
Fink concluded, “I look forward to the consideration of these measures and being a strong voice for election integrity for my constituents and Pennsylvania residents.”
