Community improvement projects in the 98th Legislative District have been awarded $1.5 million in funding, according to an announcement by Rep. Tom Jones (R-Lancaster/Lebanon). The funds aim to enhance infrastructure and educational facilities within the district.
“From upgrading infrastructure to improving educational centers for our children, these grants aim to improve the lives of district residents,” stated Jones. “I am pleased our communities were awarded this much-needed funding.”
Among the recipients, the Elizabethtown Area Water Authority has been allocated $263,350 for constructing a bypass piping system at its water treatment plant in Elizabethtown. Additionally, The Janus School in Mount Joy is set to receive $250,000 for building modernization efforts. These upgrades include installing an emergency phone in the elevator, fire and security equipment, a telephone system, computer system and equipment upgrades, as well as electrical rewiring.
In Lebanon County, South Londonderry Township will benefit from $400,000 dedicated to replacing and rehabilitating the sanitary sewer system under Timber Road and Timber Lane.
The grants are distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority through the Local Share Account program. Eligible projects must serve public interest and aim to enhance citizens' quality of life within their communities.
Furthermore, Lancaster County Career and Technology Center has secured $632,054 through the Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program. This grant will fund roof repair projects at both its Mount Joy campus and Willow Street campus by applying a liquid membrane along with new insulation and base coat primer applications.
