Smucker succeeded Joe Pitts and has also served in the Pennsylvania Senate from 2009 to 2016.
On February 16, 2025, Rep. Smucker announced the upcoming release of his e-newsletter, encouraging constituents to subscribe for updates. He stated: "The latest edition of my e-newsletter will be sent later today! Sign up now to ensure you receive the latest edition sent to your inbox!"
Two days later, on February 18, 2025, he expressed gratitude towards those who read his newsletter and urged more people to sign up for future editions. He wrote: "Thanks for taking the time to read the latest edition of my e-newsletter. Be sure to sign up to receive the next edition to have the latest news from PA-11 sent directly to your inbox!"
On February 19, 2025, Rep. Smucker voiced support for former President Donald Trump’s legislative agenda via Twitter. He tweeted: "You’re absolutely right, @POTUS @realDonaldTrump! Let’s pass the 'One Big Beautiful Bill' to Make America Great Again! @HouseGOP let’s stand together and get this done for the American people!"
