Senator Kristin Phillips-Hill of York has voiced her concerns regarding Governor Josh Shapiro's recently unveiled budget proposal. The statement was made following the presentation to a joint session of the General Assembly.
Phillips-Hill criticized the proposed 7.5% spending increase, stating it exceeds inflation and lacks a feasible payment plan. "Families across Southern York County are making tough choices, cutting unnecessary expenses, planning ahead, and making every dollar count," she remarked. She further emphasized that with federal support diminishing, state finances cannot be treated as limitless resources.
She expressed that taxpayers have been clear in their opposition to excessive government spending. "Pennsylvania families cannot afford to spend beyond their means and their government should not either," Phillips-Hill asserted. She called for a budget that is both realistic and responsible to ensure future security.
