New Salem ranked 240th in Pennsylvania for resident earnings in 2019

New Salem ranked 240th among cities in Pennsylvania by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The median income of New Salem residents was $39,129 per year, adjusted for inflation. It had 295 households with a population of 739.

The city with the highest median resident income in the state was Fox Chapel with $92,457 per year after adjusting for inflation – $53,328 more than New Salem. It had 1,797 households with a population of 5,121.

The city with the lowest median resident income in the state was Loretto with $4,384 per year after adjusting for inflation – $34,745 less than New Salem. It had 105 households with a population of 1,190.
