Rep. Lloyd Smucker, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Pennsylvania's 11th district since 2017, has taken to social media to discuss updates regarding the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC). The WOTC is designed to help individuals facing employment barriers, including veterans and long-term unemployed persons, find jobs.

On February 11, 2025, Rep. Smucker highlighted the importance of the Work Opportunity Tax Credit in his post: "The Work Opportunity Tax Credit is a proven tool that has connected those who have faced barriers to employment, including eligible veterans, SNAP recipients, individuals with disabilities, and the long-term unemployed to jobs. It hasn’t been updated in 27 years."

In another post on the same day, he emphasized his commitment to aiding disadvantaged Americans through legislative advancements: "We know the best anti-poverty program is a good job. I am committed to helping disadvantaged Americans get back to work by advancing legislation to improve this proven tool." He provided further reading material via an external link.

Rep. Smucker also mentioned a bipartisan initiative involving other House members and Senators: "That's why a bipartisan group in the House, including @RepHorsford, @RepBrianFitz, @MikeKellyPA, @VernBuchanan, @RepTomSuozzi and I have introduced the Improve and Enhance the Work Opportunity Tax Credit Act. @SenBillCassidy and @SenatorHassan lead the bill in the Senate."
