State Rep. Kate Klunk | Pennsylvania 169th Legislative District
Rep. Kate Klunk of Hanover is organizing free assistance events for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program, targeting constituents in the 169th District. These events aim to help residents with their applications for property taxes and rent paid in 2024.
Klunk stated, “For many years, my office has been helping constituents process their Property Tax/Rent Rebate applications, and we’ve formed great relationships with the seniors who take advantage of this popular program. We are happy to continue being a resource for the community and are looking forward to these in-person events to address the high demand for appointments.”
The scheduled events will occur on Thursday, March 20, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at her district office located at 118 Carlisle St., Ste. 300 in Hanover; and on Thursday, March 27, from 10 a.m. to noon at the New Freedom Municipal Building Council Chambers at 49 E. High St., New Freedom.
Eligible participants include residents aged 65 and older, widows and widowers aged 50 and above, as well as individuals with disabilities aged 18 or older. To apply, attendees must present either paid property taxes from 2024 or a renter’s certificate signed by their landlord.
The program now covers property taxes and rent paid in 2024 with an increased income limit of $46,520 due to recent legislative changes supported by Klunk that adjust limits based on annual Consumer Price Index increases. All income sources are considered except half of an individual’s Social Security income which is excluded from calculations. The maximum rebate available per homeowner or renter is $1,000.
Appointments are necessary for participation in these events. Constituents can call Klunk’s office at 717-630-8942 to book a time slot and receive guidance on required documentation for first-time applicants.
