State Legislators, led by Senator Regan and Representative Rothman, have announced significant funding for various Cumberland County municipalities and social service providers. The funding, totaling over $560,000, aims to support the purchase and upgrade of equipment for municipal and emergency services, as well as to enhance the capabilities of a non-profit organization serving cancer patients and their families.

Among the recipients of the funding are Carlisle Borough, Shippensburg Borough, Silver Spring Township, and Vickie’s Angel Foundation. Carlisle Borough is set to receive $96,500 for fire safety fleet modernization, with plans to acquire a new rescue pumper. Shippensburg Borough will also benefit from $96,500, allocated for police department vehicle and equipment upgrades. Silver Spring Township has been granted $97,549 for the purchase of public works equipment to maintain public spaces such as parks and athletic fields. Vickie’s Angel Foundation, a vital resource for families battling cancer in Central Pennsylvania, will receive $279,163 to expand its physical infrastructure to better serve the community.

Senator Regan praised the impact of the funding, stating, “The Foundation is one of a kind and I’m proud that they call the 31st Senatorial District home. I applaud the Commonwealth Financing Authority for supporting this worthy project.” Representative Delozier, representing the 88th Legislative District, highlighted the importance of the funding in allowing Vickie’s Angel Foundation to serve more individuals in need.

Commenting on the broader significance of the funding, Senator Rothman emphasized the positive effects on the community, stating, “Funding for these projects will help to maintain our public spaces, keep our neighborhoods safe, and contribute to our excellent quality of life.” Similarly, Representative Ecker stressed the importance of equipping local law enforcement with the necessary tools, noting, “Protecting our communities is no easy task but having the right tools helps make that job a little easier.”

The funding, administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), is sourced from gaming revenues from Category 4 licensed facilities, in line with state law to support projects in the public interest within host counties. This initiative underscores the commitment of state legislators to bolster essential services and organizations that play a vital role in the Cumberland County community.
