Sen. Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-York) is taking initiative to connect local citizens with unclaimed property held by the Pennsylvania Treasury. The Senator will be hosting two special events to raise awareness and facilitate the retrieval of unclaimed assets on May 2.

Phillips-Hill emphasized the importance of these events, stating, "Many individuals are unaware of the financial assets they may have left dormant with banks, insurance companies, or other entities. This money is being held by the state until the rightful owner claims it." She added, “Our goal with these events is to raise awareness of unclaimed property sitting in the Treasury’s vault and connect it with its owner.”

Residents of Southern York County are encouraged to participate in these events to search for any unclaimed property they may have. The events will take place on Thursday, May 2, and will include staff from the Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity’s office, as well as a notary public to assist with claims exceeding $5,000.

The first event, a Mobile Office in Springettsbury Township, will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the York Area United Fire & Rescue on 50 Commons Drive, York. The second event, an Unclaimed Property Event at the District Office, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at Phillips-Hill’s District Office located at 6872 Susquehanna Trail S., Springfield Township.

For those unable to attend these events, Sen. Phillips-Hill's team will be available during normal office hours at her district office to assist constituents in recovering unclaimed property. Additionally, residents can apply for unclaimed property through the Treasury’s website.

Phillips-Hill encourages constituents to seize the opportunity, stating, “We want to provide the resources to connect as many people as possible with their own money.” Unclaimed property includes financial assets that have been inactive or unclaimed for at least one year and are transferred to the Pennsylvania Treasury Department in accordance with state regulations.
