State Senator Mike Regan | Pennsylvania
State Sen. Mike Regan (R-31) will be leading a ceremony on Monday, May 6, at 5 p.m. in the Main Rotunda of the state Capitol alongside the Pennsylvania Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) to honor six fallen police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The fallen officers to be honored include Patrolman Charles G. Stipetich, Chief Justin McIntire, Police Officer Sean Sluganski, Sgt. Christopher Fitzgerald, Trooper Jacques F. Rougeau Jr., and Sgt. Richard Carrero Mendez.
Senator Regan stated, "Regan is introducing a Senate resolution to honor the six fallen officers." He further added, "Regan’s resolution would designate May 6 as Police Officers’ Memorial Day in Pennsylvania and recognize the week of May 12-18 as National Police Week."
It is noteworthy that before his tenure in the state Senate, Senator Regan served for 23 years in law enforcement as a member of the U.S. Marshals Service. His commitment to honoring fallen officers extends beyond this event, as he has introduced similar resolutions in the past to pay tribute to law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
The ceremony will also coincide with the FOP Pennsylvania State Lodge Police Memorial Ceremony, continuing the tradition of honoring those who have given their lives in service. For those who cannot attend in person, the event will be available for live viewing at SenatorRegan.com.
