State Representative Seth Grove of York County has raised concerns about voting issues in Pennsylvania, attributing them to inadequate planning by the Department of State and several Democrat-led counties. Grove also criticized judicial interventions aimed at resolving these issues.
"Lack of planning from counties and the Department of State should not create a crisis for voters," stated Grove. He noted that Republicans have proposed bipartisan solutions to improve the state's election process over the past four years, such as House Bill 1300, but received no support from Democratic governors. Instead, he accused Democrats of allowing courts to issue confusing rulings and permitting counties to establish early in-person voting systems that were poorly executed.
Grove highlighted problems in Bucks County, where he claimed voters faced disenfranchisement due to mismanagement and mixed signals from Governor Josh Shapiro and local officials. "Voters who went in-person to request a ballot in Bucks County were turned away," he said, despite assurances from Governor Shapiro that those in line by 5 P.M. would be allowed to apply for mail ballots.
Expressing further frustration with court decisions, Grove remarked on their impact on voter clarity. "We now have the courts violating the law in Bucks County by to Friday, November 1," he said, pointing out that both the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and a federal court have affirmed certain rulings.
Grove concluded by accusing Democrats of exploiting weaknesses in the election process for political gain. He called for adherence to election codes by all counties and urged courts to refrain from creating election laws shortly before elections. "There is no reason this election should not have a clear winner by the end of the day on November 5th," he asserted.
