Grant funding has been allocated to 12 first responder companies in the 169th District, as announced by Representative Kate Klunk. The funds are part of the PA Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, which is managed by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.

The grant program supports projects such as construction or renovation of facilities, equipment purchase or repair, training, and debt reduction for fire and ambulance services. Klunk emphasized the importance of these grants in supporting volunteer-run fire and EMS companies. "Many of our fire and EMS companies are volunteer run. They are supported by people who care deeply about the livelihood and safety of the place they call home," she stated.

Klunk added that these grants help ensure first responders have necessary equipment and can make essential safety upgrades. "These grant awards are just one small way we can show our support for our hard-working first responders, while ensuring they have functioning equipment and the ability to make needed safety upgrades," she said.

The awarded grants include $15,000 for Glen Rock EMS, $14,170 for Glen Rock Hose and Ladder Co., $15,000 for Hanover Area Fire and Rescue Commission, $38,815 for Hanover Area Volunteer Fire and Rescue, $15,676 for Hanover Borough Fire Department, $12,448 for Jefferson Volunteer Fire Co., $15,676 for Penn Township Department of Fire Rescue Services, $15,000 for Pleasant Hill Volunteer EMS, $16,106 for Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Co., $15,000 for Rose Fire Co. EMS, $14,815 for Rose Fire Co. No. 1., and $16,332 for Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Co.

These amounts depend on recipients filing their grant agreements with the Office of State Fire Commissioner.
